This book discusses the ideological factors and their impact upon Indonesia-Malaysia's political relations during the period 1961-1976. The ideological factors i.e. the democracy-capitalist and communist-socialist, greatly influenced the political relations between the two South East Asian countries during the bipolarity era (early Cold war period). The nature of political relations between Indonesia and Malaysia was based upon ideological factors. The changes in the political relations between Indonesia and Malaysia after 1965 was dominated by the changes in political ideology in Indonesia, i.e. from communist-socialist influences (under "old order" Sukarno) to democracy-capitalist under "new order" Suharto. The relationship between the systemic and domestic factors also discussed in this book. Domestic factors also influenced the changes ideology in Indonesia in the mid-1960s.The similar political ideology between Indonesia and Malaysia after the Indonesian Coup of September 1965 influenced the better and harmonious political relations. The ideological factors was one of the vital factors in analysing Indonesia-Malaysia political relations during the period of 1961-1976.

The border between the Southeast Asian countries of Indonesia and Malaysia consist of both a land border separating the two countries' territories on the island of Borneo as well as maritime boundaries along the length of the Straits of Malacca, in the South China Sea and in the Celebes Sea. The land boundary has a length of 2,019.5 km and stretches from Tanjung Datu at the northwestern corner of Borneo, through the highlands of the Borneo hinterland, to the Gulf of Sebatik and the Celebes Sea in the eastern side of the island. The boundary separates the Indonesian provinces of East Kalimantan and West Kalimantan, and the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak. The maritime boundary in the Straits of Malacca generally follows the median line between the baselines of Indonesia and Malaysian , running south from the tripoint with Thailand to the start of the maritime border with Singapore. Only part of this boundary has been delimited through a continental shelf boundary treaty in 1969 and a territorial sea boundary treaty in 1970.

There are different Shariah governance structures adopted by Islamic Financial Institutions across the globe. Several approaches are identified such as the centralised approach, self-regulatory approach and other approaches. This research focuses on the practice of three countries that are Malaysia, Indonesia and Kuwait which adopted the centralised Shariah governance structure. Regardless of the similar countries approach as regard to the centralized aspects of the Shariah governance, but there are some differences in their applications. Malaysia s central body on Shariah governance is the Shariah Advisory Council under the supervision of the Central Bank of Malaysia, but the central Shariah governance body in Indonesia is a non-government organization that is independent from the Central Bank. On the other hand, the Kuwait s central Shariah governance body is the Fatwa Board in the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs which is a separate entity from the Central Bank of Kuwait.
